Bo, our dog from the Lynchburg Humane Society

Bo the boxer from Lynchburg Humane SocietyBo, our dog from the Lynchburg Humane Society.

One day, I had a little extra time as I was on my way to meet a client for lunch. As I drove by the Lynchburg Humane Society, I thought why not stop in just to look… and there he was! This boxer they named “Ali“.  He was reverse brindle, with white socks, full of energy and a bit of sparkle in the eyes. We asked about him and as it turns out he had been found wondering the street.

Loving the breed and have been wanting another dog for some time, we had to adopt him. There were many concerns, how would he be with the children and the other dog. Most boxers are great with kids and do well with other dogs, but the only way to know was to take him home and see.

He fit in just perfect! His energy has returned a youthfulness that had left our other dog. They play, the run, they bark, the wrestle, they do all the things two puppies usually. And the kids! The kids love him, they climb all over him and he climbs on them. Bo is one of them, they all play together. When the kids wrestle, Bo always defends the smallest person, its like he is always helping out the underdog.

Often we joke “I would love to switch places with that dog!” Everyone pours affection on him. During bad weather he stays indoors, usually he sleeps in a bed or on the sofa during the day and with the kids at night. When its cold, everyone makes sure he is “tucked in” with a blanket.
